Jacquelyn Thies was born in Frankfort, MI, and comes from a long line of Michiganders who were invested in their communities. Her great grandfather was the Mayor of Elberta and her grandfather was postmaster of the Elberta post office for over 25 years. Jackie left the area as a young child, but always considered Michigan her home and returned to vacation here most summer’s. She returned permanently in 2010 and owned multiple homes in Scottville, before making Manistee her final residence. She loves to be involved in her community and takes pride in supporting local businesses. In 2016 Jackie created Manistee Cab when she saw a transportation need in the community of Manistee. This business is still providing a much needed service today.
Jackie has always wanted to have a presence in the historic downtown district of Manistee, and this year purchased a building on Washington St. She is in the process of converting the building at 110 Washington St. to what she is calling “The Studio…a DIY Experience”. The business will include a broad range of workshops where participants can create all types of eclectic projects of many styles, from many sources, and using many different mediums.
“The Studio” encourages diversity. The classes are tailored to inspire everyone’s individual style and creativity. Different workshops will be offered each week at 2 price points based on project completion time. Advanced workshops are offered at a separate price point and scheduled by request for those who want to create more involved and detailed projects.
“The Studio” will have workshops for all ages and experience levels, and will also be set up to hold special occasion events.
“The Studio” will be Manistee’s ultimate Creativation Connection.
